NAA Update: Last (extended) chance to enter for the NAA Awards, and are you aware of all these events?

Welcome to our bumper September issue, which has somewhat of an events focus, including LCV2015, the NAA Awards Dinner, the UK Advanced Engineering Show, Automechanika Birmingham, SMMT Open Forum, and NAA networking events…

30th September is getting closer – by midnight on that day you will need to have submitted your NAA Awards Applications, only last year’s winners are ineligible, so go to the 2015 Awards page on the website http://northernautoalliance.com/about/naa-awards/, download the application form for the award you want to enter and get writing… Let’s have a bumper crop of applications so our sponsors are impressed by all of your enthusiasm. For those of you who don’t want a lot of free publicity all you need to do is to get your table or tickets booked, they’re selling fast and time is running out!

We’ve just returned from a very successful LCV2015 event, as you can see from the review in the newsletter. We plan to move into Hall 3 for 2016 and we’re already taking reservations, so get yours in now – if you want to be part of the future vehicle community then this is the show you must attend.

It is definitely feeling like show time as we are in the last stages of our planning for the UK Advanced Engineering Show, make sure you visit us on the stand, as the CENEX stand proved this year it is surprising what ideas can result from NAA companies visiting and meeting other stand members.

The final show-related comment from me is don’t be complacent, get your booking into us now for the Automechanika Birmingham show in June 2016 – the stand space has sold like hot cakes, so although it seems a long way off we are expecting our spaces to do the same!

The SMMT Open Forum is the place to catch up on the latest news from the industry, and network with many leading companies and groups within the industry. An impressive line-up of speakers has been announced – come and visit us on stand 27.

I don’t like sounding like a broken record, but we really do need your membership. At the recent Tesla event we asked the attendees what they valued most from their membership – there were many answers but one of the most significant was the networking meetings and especially the fact that they are held at company premises. We are working on our networking plan for the next 12 months, with many slots already taken; but if you would like to showcase your company by hosting a networking meeting then please contact either Martina or myself. Our next two networking meetings will be at Jaguar Land Rover at Halewood and Ginetta at Leeds – keep an eye on your inbox for more information including booking details.

After this month this newsletter will be coming from the following email address: g.holden@nwautoalliance.com – please can you add Graham’s email address to your email system, i.e.. whitelist it, so the NAA newsletter gets through to you every month.  While you’re at it, are there any other people in your organisation who should subscribe to the NAA e-newsletter? (this can be done easily and quickly via the button at the very top of our website northernautoalliance.com)

Finally at the Tesla event we said goodbye to Martyn Cray. Martyn is now the Operations Director at Swift Caravans (I feel a networking meeting coming on…). I would like to thank him for all his support and mucking in with the rest of us in the different world of NAA, including having the tables turned on him by being in the minority with four women as his colleagues! I’m certain that his year with us has broadened his horizons from the world of a vehicle manufacturer to understanding more about the total automotive community and we wish him all the best in his new role.
